Privacy Law and Regulation and How Financial Institutions are Operationalizing Them
Time
11:00 AM - 11:45 AM
Session Description - EventHub
The financial services industry has been facing challenges complying with the patchwork of privacy standards across the country and globe. This panel will discuss how the financial services industry is taking measures to operationalize privacy regulations and standing up programs that meet regulatory expectations. Housing and finance practitioners have spent a significant amount of time and effort to comply with the new privacy requirements, but some have put that focus on the back burner as they deal with the large operational and health-related impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, enforcement of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) became effective July 1st, and the office of the California Attorney General has begun to issue Notices of Violations for non-compliance. Additionally, organizations are facing a balancing act between their operational efforts to accommodate their workforce returning from remote work, and additional privacy-related efforts to monitor and mitigate the impacts of the virus. What have been the biggest challenges getting CCPA-ready? What can the financial services industry expect from a regulatory and enforcement perspective? This discussion explores the latest developments and shares notes from the field.
